Description

During September 1992 an opportunity to observe and record some of the stratigraphy of the west bank settlement was created when two trenches were cut, one for the installation of an agricultural water pipeline from Stamford Bridge to a cattle shed sited to the south of the core area of the settlement, cutting completely across the settlement, and another on the south side of the core area to supply electricity from North Farm, a few hundred metres away. Over two strenuous days the opportunity to salvage information was taken. Certain definable features emerged from the trenches, and deposits amenable to environmental sampling were located. These features consist of a building, a well, the main road through the settlement and a number of ditches.
