Full Description

Includes: No.1A CHURCH STREET. Two houses with shops. 1836-39; refurbished and shopfronts replaced 1994. Painted brick in Flemish bond, with timber cornice; slate roof, hipped to St Sampson's Square, with scrolled corner brackets and brick stacks.

EXTERIOR: both fronts 3 storeys, 2 windows. Shop entrance in canted corner between plate glass shop windows: shopfront continues on Church Street side. Plain door incorporated at left end of St Sampson's Square front. On both fronts, first and second floor windows are 12-pane sashes with slender glazing bars, painted stone sills and cambered brick arches. Plain eaves frieze band and cornice on paired modillions. Church Street front has moulded rainwater head at left end of cornice.
