YORK SE6051NW ST SAMPSON'S SQUARE 1112-1/28/975 (North East side) 24/06/83 No.12 (Formerly Listed as: CHURCH STREET Nos.1 AND 1A) GV II Includes: No.1A CHURCH STREET. Two houses with shops. 1836-39; refurbished and shopfronts replaced 1994. Painted brick in Flemish bond, with timber cornice; slate roof, hipped to St Sampson's Square, with scrolled corner brackets and brick stacks. EXTERIOR: both fronts 3 storeys, 2 windows. Shop entrance in canted corner between plate glass shop windows: shopfront continues on Church Street side. Plain door incorporated at left end of St Sampson's Square front. On both fronts, first and second floor windows are 12-pane sashes with slender glazing bars, painted stone sills and cambered brick arches. Plain eaves frieze band and cornice on paired modillions.
