Building record MYO4007 - Ivy Cottage

Summary

Ivy Cottage is tucked away on the inside of the City Wall near the Old Railway Station (now West Offices). It is a former shunter's cabin associated with the use of the Old Railway Station for carriage storage after 1877, and later the locking fitter's cabin. With the Old Railway Station it is indicative of the alignment of the original railway and reflects later arrangements after the construction of the New Station. Together they have Medium evidential & Low Historical significance. Nominated for inclusion on York's Local List of heritage assets.
