Monument record MYO3363 - Roundhouse, 1851 (excavated site)

Summary

Monument extent plotted from 1852 60"-1 mile OS plan. Roundhouse 1 was built in 1851, had 16 stalls and was served by a 42 ft. turntable. In October 1921, Roundhouse 1 was being used to repair wagon sheets, a fire completely destroyed the shed and its contents. It is not shown on the Epoch3 OS plan (c 1930). NOTE: IN THE THE YORK CENTRAL AUDIT OF HEITAGE ASSETS THE SITE IS MENTIONED TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN C1849-50.

NOTE: IN THE THE YORK CENTRAL AUDIT OF HEITAGE ASSETS THE SITE IS MENTIONED TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN C1849-50 AND DEMOLISHED BETWEEN 1892 AND 1929.

It also mentions that it has been an archaeological excavation has been carried out on the site
