Monument record MYO2169 - Roman Cemetery, 89 The Mount

Summary

The cemetery at 89-90 The Mount forms part of the much larger cemetery or series of cemeteries of Roman date which lie on the north-west and south-east sides of The Mount. The earliest use at 89-90 The Mount dates to the Roman period and takes the form of a series of cut features including ditches, pits and post holes and burials. The material culture indicates that the site was being used from the 1st to the 3rd centuries AD. The cemetery at 89-90 The Mount includes inhumations and an in-situ stone sarcophagus. This was removed intact and currently resides in storage pending further investigation.
