Description

Two evaluation trenches in advance of development. Natural clay was noted at c.16.10m. Trench 1 was cut by a ditch aligned NW-SE and was 1.25m wide and c.0.45m deep with a V shaped profile possibly 2nd century in date. Trench 2 contained a shallow cut and tightly packed cobbles possibly a post-pad replacing an earlier posthole. RCHME microfilm PRN 3276. York Archaeological Trust annual report /1990-91/27 NMR has two entries for an evaluation of 2 trenches in 1991.
