Description

The trench was located to the south-west of the former All Saints Church, Fishergate. The site visit demonstrated that a substantial quantity of disarticulated human remains that had previously been disturbed by 20th century activity had been exposed. A trench aligned roughly N-S, sub-rectangular in plan, measuring approximately 10m x 1.5m x 0.5m was monitored. No in situ archaeological deposits were observed, instead the exposed material was exclusively the infills of multiple modern service trenches. Disarticulated human bone was present in all of these deposits.
