Description

Between the 22nd and 26th of September York Archaeological Trust carried out a watching brief at 144 The Mount. During the course of the watching brief no significant archaeological remains were uncovered. If there are any Roman burials present they may be beyond the depth of the current works. The existence of burials within vicinity is suggested by the disarticulated human bone within rubble deposit. Roman pottery recovered from soil deposit could also indicate Roman deposits in the vicinity but was residual within a later deposit.
