Description
A skull, of possibly Bronze Age date from the excavations on the Heslington
East Campus at the University of York, was brought to me by Rachel Cubitt
for investigation. The skull, with its mandible and atlas, could represent a
decapitation as no other skeletal elements were recovered. It had been found
in wet, possibly waterlogged, deposits and appeared to have loose contents,
which I was asked to examine and to confirm whether or not they could be the
remains of its brain.
