Description

Evaluation trench A 3x3m trench, excavated to a depth of x.xm below ground level. It contained deep, well stratified deposits dating from the 11th to 16th century. Only in Trench 4 were pre-Conquest remains found, less than 2m below ground surface. However, waterlogging did not occur, and there was only limited preservation of timber and organic materials. More modern deposits appear to have been truncated during 20th century building construction.
