Desktop study This desk-top study was commissioned in advance of proposed redevelopment. Although there was archaeological activity in the area, major dumping and levelling in the 19th century and later has rendered the condition of archaeological remains uncertain. Some parts of the site may be free from modern disturbance and may contain Roman deposits; medieval structural remains are unlikely as the area was used for agricultural purposes until the mid-19th century.
