watching brief geotechnical test pits A series of machine excavated geotechnical test pits were subject to a watching brief. In all 6 test pits were excavated to varying depths across the whole of the site and were between 1.1 and 1.7 metres below ground level. It was the conclusion of the contractor that on this site there were no significant archaeological deposits found. What was recovered is thought to be associated with hill wash and possible plough drag material.
