Main range with cross wings to either end and central cross wing to rear. All classrooms face south to village green. Lavatories aid washrooms provided within main structure. Single storey with attics, 9 bays with projecting gabled outer bays. Central glazed door beneath radial fanlight flanked by wide, three-quarter length plate glass windows originally intended to fold back. 3-light casements to gable ends. Central bellcote. This is an important building in terms of the development of school architecture, incorporating for the first time "open air" south-facing classrooms which do not open off the assembly hall, as traditional in C19 schools, and internal sanitary arrangements.
