Title 28-30 Coney Street
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2020

Abstract/Summary

The work observed consisted of the removal of the present floor surface to lower the ground level to the rear of the property. The timber floor was removed from the front of the property and was found to consist of timber decking sitting on top of an open cellar. This cellar seemed to extend beyond the front of the property. Its walls were constructed of essentially brickwork although there were some courses of limestone blockwork built into it. These were found mainly around passage/door openings. The size of brick making up the construction of the cellar walls seem to suggest that the cellar was constructed at the same time as the brick structure now sitting above it, i.e. the late 19th century.
