Abstract/Summary
Hand-excavation of a trial pit (0.5m x 0.7m x c.0.9m deep) at the corner of Blue Bridge Lane which measured was monitored. The trial pit was located within a former Victorian pipe cut. Within the base of the pit, a Victorian ceramic sewer was overlain by trench backfill composed of clay silt. The clay silt was approximately 0.50m thick and was located below a former pavement level composed of concrete that measured 0.5m thick. The concrete was sealed by the modern tarmac pavement which was 0.5m thick. There were no finds or features of archaeological interest.
