Abstract/Summary

Watching brief during the excavation of 52 engineers test pits, of which two identified archaeological features. Test Pit 15 exposed a ditch 3m wide and 1.5m deep that produced Roman pottery, slag and burnt material and was probably part of a known cropmark complex. Test Pit 2 identified a ditch that may form part of a medieval field system and was open into the post medieval period. No evidence was found for prehistoric occupation or the Roman road.
