The archaeological watching brief involved the monitoring of the topsoil strip of areas associated with the new buildings and car park at Roxby Farm, Wheldrake. The earliest deposit observed was the natural clay subsoil which was below 0.3m of clay silt topsoil although parts of the stripped areas were under water. As a result a second visit was made in May to observe these areas once they had drained and identified an identical sequence of deposits. In both visits no features of archaeological importance were observed.
