York Historic Environment Record

AOC Archaeology Group has been commissioned by the City of York Council to contribute to a Heritage Statement that is being prepared as part of a planning application for the redevelopment of the Guildhall complex in York. This assessment report focuses on sub-surface archaeological remains at the site and the potential impact of the proposed development upon them. It collates, and builds upon, the results of previous desk-based research and field evaluations at the site. The potential impact of the proposed development upon above-ground structures of archaeological and historical significance and their settings will form a separate part of the Heritage Statement, and are therefore not addressed here.
