Abstract/Summary
Between the 8th of May 2013 and the 12th of July 2013, York Archaeological Trust carried out an
excavation and archaeological watching brief on land at 32 Lawrence Street, York (NGR: SE 615 5127).
This was to enable the recording and excavation of any archaeological remains encountered during the enabling works before the construction of a number of new accommodation blocks. The monitoring was required (Condition 17 of the planning permission)as the site was located within York’s Area of
Archaeological Importance as defined in the Scheduled Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 and had the potential to encounter significant archaeological remains.
