Summary

A large number of Anglian burials of mid 5th century date found in Heworth in 1878. A number of urns are held in the Yorkshire Museum. Excavations in 1965 confirmed the extent of the cemetery.

[SE 6105 5292] Anglo-Saxon burial ground [GT].(1)

A large number of Anglian burials of mid 5th. cent. date and among
the earliest of their kind, were found at Heworth in 1878, about 40
restored urns being exhibited in the Yorkshire Museum. (2)
