Full Description

NMR Information:

The upper stone of a bun-shaped sandstone rotary quern
reputed to have been found at Askham Richard(SE 536480) has been
in Gray's Court, York for at least fifteen years. The stone is
12-13 inches in diameter and 7 1/2 inches high with two perfect handlesockets sunk 2 1/2 inches into the stone. The base is well worn (1)

The lower stone of a rotary quern from Askham Richard was donated
to the Yorkshire Museum during 1930 by Major Wailes-Fairbairn. (2)
