Monument record MYO4404 - YORK AND SCARBOROUGH RAILWAY

Summary

The York and Scarborough Railway was authorised in 1844 and opened in 1845. A branch was also authorised from Rillinton to Pickering, which would later be part of the important York - Whitby route. This branch closed in 1965.
