Monument record MYO4372 - Anglo-Scandinavian structures and deposits

Summary

Mid 10th-11th Anglo-Scandinavian organic deposits encountered at c.0.4m bgl (10.5m AOD). Two phases of activity identified - first phase comprised of two wattle lined pits and a succession of short-lived inter-cutting pits. Phase 2 was characterised by construction of at least three structures represented by wooden sill beams and stony floor make up deposits. The three structures appeared to be a succession of buildings or moditfications of the same property - defined by a sequence of wattle fences. A 13th-14th century structure was construced within the same sequence using stone pads and rubble foundations.
