Summary

Road 7 preceeded road 5 on a direct alignment on the NW gate from a point well outside the modern city boundary. Evidence for it exists in the obsolete parish boundaries formerly running along Cliton and in a find in 1929 of road metalling near the fountain on Clifton Green and in April 1960 in front of the White House, Clifton.
