Summary
1842 et seq. but incorporating 1st YNM Engine Shed of 1839.
NMR: Railway Works Queen Street. Opened in 1841 for the York and North Midland Railway Company, later part of North Eastern Railway. This small group of buildings later became York Railway Museum before demolition in 1979.

Full Description
The york central audit of heritage assets mentions that it was constructed in 1842 et seq. But incorporating 1st York & North Midland Engine Shed of 1839, extended to queens street workshops between 1875 and 1888. Largely, but not entirely, demolished between 1936 and 2012.
It also mentions that archaeological investigation of a demolished building might be potentially informative.
