Full Description
A Medieval field system of ridge and furrow in the district of York is visible on early air-photographs as earthworks. Most of the area is now built-upon but some isolated pockets of ridge and furrow survive, and show on later photography (SE 617 498, SE 603 493, SE 590 500).
On the outskirts traces of ridge and furrow survive on the ranges of Heworth Golf Club.
Traces of ridge and furrow were seen on York racecourse on 1980s photography.
