Summary
The remains of a probable Roman pottery kiln was discovered in the bank of a stream at Apple Tree Farm; it consisted of a pit containing dark soil, waste tile and pottery including wasters. The pottery was dated to Hadrianic - early Antonine, 2nd century AD. It produced legionary wares, pottery and tiles, presumably for the fort at York.

NMR Information:
The remains of a probable Roman pottery kiln was discovered in the bank of a stream at Apple Tree Farm; it consisted of a pit containing dark soil, waste tile and pottery including wasters. The pottery was dated to Hadrianic - early Antonine, 2nd century AD. (1)
