Full Description
House. c1820, altered c1880. Painted brick with hipped slate  roof.  EXTERIOR: symmetrical, of 2 storeys and 3 bays. On the ground  floor there are brick canted bay windows which have cornices,  and sashes with segmental heads. On the 1st floor the windows  are also sashed and have painted rusticated lintels partly  hidden by a C20 timber gutter fascia. The doorway has a  projecting plain brick surround with a cornice. The door has 4  glazed panels above 2 raised and fielded panels, and the  overlight has a segmental top. Chimney to right of ridge.  INTERIOR: not inspected.  SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: a low wall in front of the house is  rendered and carries railings with cast-iron fleur-de-lys  finials. The gate has cast-iron openwork gate piers of square  plan with honeysuckle decoration.  Included for group value with buildings at junction with Acomb  Road and Poppleton Road.
