Summary

Railings and gate piers to forecourt of Castlegate House. Mid-18th century. Probably by John Carr. Wrought-iron railings and gate piers on painted stone wall. Chamfered wall approx 0.5 metres high, surmounted by square section railings and turned braced standards with twist finials. Gate piers are openwork, with panels of wavy and angled pieces, caps of clustered scrolls and urn finials.

Full Description

syoRailings and gate piers to forecourt of Castlegate House (qv). Mid C18. Probably by John Carr. Wrought-iron railings and gate piers on painted stone wall. Chamfered wall approx .5 metres high, surmounted by square section railings and turned braced standards with twist finials.
