Full Description
Two houses and shop. c1900. Sham timber-frame above brick.  Westmorland slate roof.  EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic. 4 bays. The 2 outer bays have  sashed windows on the ground floor. The 1st floor is  close-studded, with an ogee brace at the right, and with a  rail and a moulded bressumer. It has casement cross windows,  the upper panes leaded. The right-hand bay has a flat-roofed  attic dormer with a casement. On the ground floor there is a  doorway to the right of the 1st bay, with a cornice hood on  brackets and with a door which has 2 glazed panels above 2  bolection-moulded panels. In the 2nd bay there is a shopfront  flanked by pilasters and with a recessed doorway to the left  of its window. In the 3rd bay there is a wide cornice hood on  brackets above a doorway with an enriched surround with a  lintel inscribed 'DILSTON HOUSE' and with ornamentation which  includes foliage, swags, and drops. The door has a glazed  panel above 2 bolection-moulded panels. The eaves are coved.  Ridge chimneys to right of 1st bay and at right.  INTERIOR: not inspected.
