Description

Between 1st November 2004 and January 28th 2005 York Archaeological Trust undertook excavations at Dixon’s Yard, Walmgate on the site of the early 19th century Walker iron foundry. The excavation was undertaken to a brief from the Principal Archaeologist for the City of York, on behalf of Project Solutions, a division of Lightly and Lightly Ltd, in advance of development of the site for housing. The excavation followed on from an evaluation of the site by On Site Archaeology in 2003.
