Description

Borehole Survey. Field Archaeology Specialists were commissioned to undertake a series of small core boreholes on the site of the proposed Shepherds development on the northem side of Blue Bridge Lane, adjacent to the river Foss. The investigation comprised a total of five boreholes located over the sites of manholes present in the drainage scheme of the proposed development. The location of the boreholes is shown in Figure 2 (SYO846). The investigation was undertaken with a view to establish the impact that the construction of the manholes might have on archaeological deposits in the immediate vicinity and the level of any mitigation that may be required.
