Description

Watching brief while a trench was excavated to underpin and extend the property. The trench measured 7m x 0.6m and 0.7m deep to natural. The natural clay was overlain by a sandy deposit cut by a grave in which a skull survived along with several bones and sherd of 3rd-4th century pottery. Probably part of the cemetery zone recorded adjacent to the Bar Convent. A second trench was dug c.2m to the north-east of the first - no Roman feaures found.
