Description

June 1994 a watching brief by R Marwood on the north-east side of The Grange Hotel. In an area of c.4.1 x 1.8m material was removed to a depth of 2.10m bgl. At c.2.05m a skelton was encountered parallel to the Roman road. No grave cut was found. NMR has another 1994 WB at 3 Clifton Accession code: YORYM:1994.1780. Salvage recording of a possible Roman skeleton exposed by building works. I have included it with this record as I believe it could be a duplicate of the work recorded as EYO6122.
