Description

On the 4th and 5th August 2008 York Archaeological Trust undertook a watching brief in the Fox Quadrangle of Bootham School, York. The watching brief was to observe and record any archaeological deposits, features or structures exposed during excavation work for a new flight of semi-underground steps leading into and providing a new access point for part of the Fox Building. Despite the depth and extent of the works the majority of the material removed was clearly modern. Although exposed during the work, the section of buried wall and the possible medieval build-up deposit were not significantly disturbed and it is therefore considered that little or no damage was done to the archaeology of the area
