Description
Excavation of two trenches 2m x 1m. No Roman deposits were found in trench 1 located to coincide with the western tower of the gatehouse to York Castle. In trench 2 natural was encountered at c.2.5m bgl. Material and deposits were noted from all periods from the Roman era onwards.
