Description

A watching brief from 24th May 1995 was undertaken during alterations to 29 Trinity Lane (primarily the cellar) and during the excavation of an external drainage. The building recording revealed more details of the 17th century brick cellar range, and suggested that it incorporated a medieval cellar of ashlar construction. Manhole 6 of the drainage works, in Trinity Lane encountered a possible Roman road, Anglo-Scandinavian deposits and pit, and medieval and later deposits; with late/post-medieval gravel surfaces representing the development of Trinity Lane prior to the more recent cobble then tarmac surface.
