Description
Between 10th October and 16th November 2011 York Archaeological Trust undertook a watching brief during the excavation of a utility trench starting in Hungate outside Stonebow House and progressing along St Saviourgate and Colliergate before finishing in Kings Square. A stretch of electricity cable trench running along the south-western part of St Andrewgate into King’s Square was also monitored during this watching brief. Later, during January 2012, further work to provide a new supply to premises in King’s Square was monitored. The objective was to record any deposits, features or buried structural remains of archaeological significance exposed during these works.
