Description

A watching brief was carried out during the demolition of the old swimming pool and the stripping of an adjacent area in advance of the construction of a new, enlarged pool. This revealed a natural silty clay, which was cut by a number of archaeological features. These included several linears, one of which was on a similar alignment to the presumed line of Roman Road 5. A possible pit was also recorded. Unfortunately none of the features were sample excavated and no dating evidence was recovered.
