Description

WB during the excavation of foundation trenches for a new dwelling. The deposit sequence observed in the various foundation trenches and basement area was one of considerable uniformity. Natural strata was observed 0.29-0.46m BGL. Significant quantities of later post-medieval pottery was present throughout this material. This material may form a garden-type soil perhaps assocaited with Earswick Hall, in terms of wall foundations, robbed walls and much in the way of demolition debris suggests that this building, assuming it impinged onto the site, lay immediatly east of the foundations for the new dwelling.
