During the watching brief no features were recorded and the only deposit of any significance may have been Context 1003 in Section 2 and this may only have been a build-up deposit of agricultural or horticultural soil. Maps of the 17th to mid 19th centuries did indicate that this area was either fields orgardens, it only being developed for housing (wall 1006 may have been part of any such housing) sometime in the second half of the 19th century. Since the main strip did not penetrate as far down as natural subsoil there was very little opportunity to establish if there were any archaeological features surviving at this interface, but if so, then they were unlikely to have suffered any serious damage
