Description

A fourth and final season of the training excavation at St Leonard’s Hospital, Museum Street, York addressed the outstanding project research aims. Discoveries included early Roman activity; details of the construction history of the second Roman fortress rampart structure and the Multangular Tower; post-Roman activity; further information on the construction history and layout of the medieval infirmary; more evidence of the 19th-century excavations and landscaping; and the entrance to the Second World War air-raid shelter.
