Description

Archaeological watching brief during the cutting of a new electricity trench. The trench was c.135m in length and 0.6-0.7m wide to a depth of 0.8m. Natural clayey sand was reached at 0.8m bgl. Natural was cut by a pit which contained disarticultated human bones. A metalled road surface was encountered at several points along the trench overlying natural. NMR information: An archaeological watching brief was carried out during groundworks at the site. Disturbed Roman inhumation burials re-interred in a charnel pit were recorded. Road surfaces and trackways were also encountered.
