Description
watching brief, cable trenches
A watching brief was set up to monitor the digging of cable trenches in the Minster’s precinct. The cables were all external and ran between St. William’s College, the Minster and the Minster’s Song School, mainly within Chapter House Street and the grounds of the Minster and the Song School. The trenches were all sunk to a depth of between 30 and 45cm. What was observed was evidence for a series of substantial Medieval buildings south of Danegate. Also recorded was the possible layout of the former Minster Yard.
