Description

YORK SE5751SW THE GREEN, Acomb 1112-1/18/1202 (South side) 24/06/83 Nos.56 AND 58 II Two houses, now house. c1820 and c1830. Brick with slate roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. No.58, at the right, is earlier and slightly lower. It has 2 bays, and windows with segmental heads. The left-hand bay has fixed lights with glazing bars, and the right-hand bay has horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars. Towards the right there is evidence of a blocked doorway. No.56 has one bay which has glazing bar sashes. At the left the front wall is blank on the ground floor and on the 1st floor there is a window divided into vertical lights which are glazed with overlapping pieces of waste glass. To the right there is a doorway with a doorcase which has moulded pilasters, and moulded round paterae at the corners. The door has 6 raised and fielded panels and there is a plain rectangular overlight. Central ridge chimney to No.58. The gutter to No.56 is carried on paired timber brackets.
