SE 65 NE STOCKTON-ON-THE-FOREST THE VILLAGE (north-west side)
3/33 Stockton Hall 29.1.53 GV II
House. c1800. Brick in Flemish bond, Welsh slate roof. Central-entry double-pile plan with service wing to right. 3 storeys, 5 bays. Main facade: plinth broken by Ionic porch with paired columns containing double- leaf glazed door beneath radial fanlight. Sashes with glazing bars on continuous sill to ground and first floors, that above door in eared and shouldered architrave with pediment. Second floor: 6-pane sashes, that to centre in eared and shouldered architrave. Moulded cornice. Hipped roof with stacks rising through pitch of roof. Garden facade has similar glazing, but central pedimented bay breaks forward slightly, with 3-window bow to ground floor and Venetian window to first floor. Interior: blind round-headed arcades to entrance hall which terminates in an arch carried on composite columns, 3 blind arches to spinal corridor with fluted pilaster to right.
