Description

YORK SE5952NE CLIFTON 1112-1/7/194 (North East side) 14/06/54 No.40 GV II House. Early C19. Brick with painted stone dressings. Pantiled roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys plus attic. 3 bays. The facade has a stone plinth, a 1st floor sill band, and a mutuled gutter cornice. The windows are glazing bar sashes with rubbed brick flat arches. The ground-floor window and door arches are semicircular. The attic has 2 flat-roofed dormers. The doorway, in the right-hand bay, is recessed and has flush-panelled reveals. Steps with nosings are partly recessed and partly project onto the pavement. The door has 2 glazed panels above 2 plain panels with moulded borders. Above there is a fanlight. Chimneys to left and right. INTERIOR: RCHM records good Regency fittings and staircase.
