Description

YORK SE6052SW COLLEGE GREEN 1112-1/27/219 Sundial approximately 40m east of 24/06/83 York Minster (Formerly Listed as: COLLEGE GREEN Sundial in the centre of College Green) GV II Sundial. 1730, re-erected c1955. Stone with copper gnomen and lead straps. Circular on plan. Fluted Doric column surmounted by cubical sundial with cornice and ball and pedestal finial: approximately 3 metres high. Column encircled by flat seat carried on the back of 4 lions couchants. Sundial brought from Drakelowe Hall, Burton-on-Trent, by the Friends of York Minster, and re-erected as part of improvements to College Green.
