Three houses, now flats and hotel. c1860. Stucco with slate roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with attics and cellars. The north-west facade has 3 sill bands; the cornices of the ground-floor windows are extended as a band, and there is a deeply-projecting bracketed timber eaves cornice. The windows have segmental heads and sashes which are divided into large square panes. Those to No.7 also have margin panes. The facades of Nos 5 and 6 form a mirrored symmetrical composition of 2-3-2 windows. At ground and first floor level the paired windows to the outer bays have surrounds which project forwards under a cornice. The 3 central windows on the 1st floor have semicircular heads. At ground floor level these 3 central bays have doorways to each side of a central window, which forms part of No.6. The recessed doors have 2 over 3 panels and the plain overlights have segmental heads. No.7, at the right, has 2 bays facing north-west. The right-hand window on the ground floor has a raised surround with cornice. Nos 5 and 6 each have 2 attic dormers, and No.7 has one dormer; all have segmental tops. Chimneys to left and right and between houses. The right-hand return wall forms the entrance facade to No.7. The eaves cornice rises as a broken pediment above the central part, which projects forwards slightly. The outer parts of the facade are blank except for 2 storey bands, a round-headed fixed-light window to the left on the ground floor, and a similar blind recess to the right. In the centre on the 1st floor there are 3 round-headed glazing bar sashes separated by pilasters and with moulded archivolts. At 2nd floor level there is a round-headed window with a cornice hood on console brackets, with a small inserted window to its left. Within the broken pediment there is a round-headed attic window. At ground-floor level there is a single-storey porch with a plain cornice which is moulded and dentilled above the doorway and which has a blocking course. The overlight has margin panes, and to each side of the doorway there are narrow round-headed sashed windows without glazing bars. The garden facades, facing south-east, have 3-window bows to both No.5 and No.6, and a canted bay window to No.7; all are of 2 storeys above a cellar. Nos 6 and 7 each have a round-topped dormer, and No.5 has 2 flat-roofed C20 dormers. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: on the north-west side the deep basement area is enclosed by cast-iron railings on a low stone coping.
On the south-east side plain railings link Nos 5 and 6 to a low wall of squared limestone with sandstone copings supporting cast-iron railings and containing 2 pairs of ashlar gate piers with cast-iron gates. The piers are cylindrical above octagonal bases and have an annular groove below a cap which is carved to resemble a section of fluted Greek Doric column.
